When & Where
Core Groups are small groups designed to create a safe place for women to connect on a deeper level, with intentionality. Ladies in the group initially spend the first few months taking turns sharing their spiritual journeys – this vulnerability and commitment to each other creates connection and intimacy unlike any other type of group. Over time, groups become their own kind of family with a unique dynamic; no two groups look alike. To encourage deep relationship and intimacy, groups have no more than eight women and have at least a six-month commitment with regular attendance of meetings. This consistency builds a trust and momentum vital to relationship.
HOW ARE CORE GROUPS DIFFERENT FROM LIFE GROUPS?
There are two main differences: 1) Life Groups may not require a commitment to attend regularly and 2) Life Groups are each built around specific themes: from quilting to Bible studies, and everything in between. Core groups do require an active commitment to attend regularly and they do not have any particular theme. Much like doing everyday life with friends, sometimes you study the Word together, sometimes you pray with each other, lots of times you laugh together, sometimes you process life and questions together, almost always you encourage each other, and sometimes you cry together. Basically you commit to do life together for six months or longer.
WHAT DO YOU DO ON THE WEEKS THAT YOU DON’T MEET TOGETHER AS A GROUP?
You meet one-on-one with another lady in your group. You can grab lunch or coffee, go shopping, go for a walk, whatever you two want to do to hang out and get to know each other more.
ARE THERE CORE GROUPS FOR MEN?
Not at this time. If you know of a guy or group of guys who are interested, use the email address below to let us know.
WHAT DOES A CORE GROUP “LEADER” DO?
Core Group “leaders” are really more like facilitators for their group. There are no teachings or lessons to prepare each week – only the responsibility to be present and make sure your group is cultivating a safe environment for vulnerability. You will have access to training to help you handle any issues that inevitably creep up in all group dynamics. You will also have connection and fellowship opportunities with other Core Group leaders as well as a Connect Pastor that will commit to pray for you regularly.
WHEN CAN I JOIN A CORE GROUP?
We start new groups at the beginning of the school semesters in September/October and January/February and take a break over the summer. If you apply in between our scheduled start dates, we will save your information for the next semester. If you are ready to join a Core Group, please complete the questionnaire below.
