What We Do

We pursue the reality of God’s dream by demonstrating His love through...

Saturday Adopt A Block

Every Saturday, our teams go into specific neighborhoods around the city to build relationships with people and to disciple and encourage them in their walk with Jesus. Our heart is to share the gospel, serve in the neighborhoods, and love people well. With this goal in mind, we ask team members to be consistent in attendance.

Lead by: Dave Gowan and Fiona Hunt
Schedule: Saturday’s 10:00am-12:30pm
Location: 20 Lake Boulevard, Kitchen Area

Sunday Morning Breakfast

On Sunday mornings we prepare and serve breakfast for the homeless and low income guests from our community. We love being able to meet a practical need, as well as leading guests into greater connection with the heart of God and church family. There’s opportunity to serve in the kitchen, making the meal, or in the dining room, serving and ministering to guests with the love, power, and friendship of Jesus. Breakfast is served at 8:45am and clean up begins around 9:45am, so that our volunteers and guests are able to attend the second service.

Lead by: Rebeccah O’Brien and Mark and Debbie Starr
Schedule: Sunday’s 7:30am-10:30am
Location: Bethel College View Campus - Dining Room

Bus Ministry

Be part of the team that transports community members to Outreach events while carrying heaven’s atmosphere! Two shuttles leave Bethel every Sunday morning at 7:30am to pick up guests at the Good News Rescue Mission and bring them to our Breakfast and church services. We shuttle our guests back to the Mission after the 1st and 2nd services. If you’re interested in being a part of our Bus Driver team, we will help you get your Class B driver’s license with passenger endorsement. We ask that you be able to drive twice a month on Sunday mornings.

Please note: there is an application process and vetting is required

Lead by: Nathan Muller
Schedule: Sunday shifts, from 7:00am-1:00pm, and as scheduled for events
Location: Bethel College View Campus

Benevolence Ministry

The Benevolence phone line receives 50-100 phone calls each week from people requesting assistance with rent/lodging, utilities, food, gas, and medicines. Our Benevolence volunteers primarily minister to people over the phone: returning phone calls to gain perspective on situations and discussing each case with the overseer to see if and how we can help, then informing each person about the decision made. Our goal is to facilitate an encounter with the Father and Provider in a way that changes the person’s life, whether we are meeting practical needs with the resources we have, or ministering the love and power of Jesus.

Lead by: Nathan Muller and Bonita Ahring
Schedule: Monday and Thursday, 9:00am-11:30am
Location: Bethel Lake Building, West Entrance

Juvenile Hall Ministry

On Sunday mornings our team goes to the Shasta County Juvenile Rehabilitation Facility. Our heart is to build relationship with the youth and to see Jesus transform lives through His Love. We teach the Word, encourage, and speak into the future of the residents there.

Please note: there is an application process and vetting is required

Lead by: Bonita Ahring
Schedule: Sundays, 8:00am-9:30am
Location: Shasta County Juvenile Rehabilitation Facility

Water Baptisms

Be part of the team that helps new believers take the next step in their faith journey! Once a month, at our Sunday night service, the Baptism Team teaches a class to those wanting to be baptized. You’ll get to encourage and minister to the baptism candidates and help facilitate their experience during the service. It’s amazing to witness each person making a public declaration of their faith in Jesus and encounter His resurrection life through baptism!

Lead by: Nathan Muller
Schedule: Once monthly on Sunday's, 5:00-8:00pm
Location: Bethel College View Campus - Dining Room

Freedom Team

Do you have a heart to see people saved? The Freedom Team has members present at every weekend church service at Bethel. They have the honor of leading people in surrendering their lives to Jesus and receiving salvation. Pray, prophesy and encourage these new believers as they start their life in Christ!

Lead by: Bob and Linda Matthews
Schedule: Weekly at Bethel Church Services
Location: College View and Twin View Campuses

Kingdom Expansion Team

Ever wonder what happens to people after they accept Jesus? Discipleship is so important as we learn to follow Jesus, and the Kingdom Expansion team does just that. They gather contact information of new believers (those who come forward in church, as well as those who accept Jesus in the community through various outreaches) and invite them into deeper relationship with seasoned believers. They meet one on one, as well as in a group, to teach, answer questions, encourage, and minister to new believers.

Lead by: Bob and Linda Matthews
Schedule: Tuesday's, 7:00pm and as scheduled
Location: Bethel Campuses

Annual Events

We love to see our city transformed by the love of Jesus, so we have 3 big events that happen each year. Help us love our city well at these events!

Summer Block Parties

We believe transformed people transform cities! During the summer we host Block Parties to share the love of the Father in Redding neighborhoods. We provide food, ministry, face painting, music, raffle prizes and lots of fun!

Thanksgiving Meal

On Thanksgiving Day, we provide a Thanksgiving Meal (turkey with all the fixings) to the homeless and those who have nowhere else to go. We invite them to enjoy a family atmosphere, with lots of food and fun, as we meet practical needs, prophesy life, and serve in love.

Holiday Feast

In mid-December, we put on a Holiday Feast. We serve our guests a three-course meal on fine china, and lavish them with gifts. It’s an intricately beautiful event that helps speak value and identity into those who need it most.

Schedule: Annually in early August, late November, and mid-December
